October 15, 2026
The Square's fall programming ends in one weekend this year. Trick-or-Treat on the Square fills Saturday, October 24. The Hyde Park Farmers' Market holds its last Sunday of the season the next morning, October 25. After that, the Square's published calendar has nothing on it until the Fountain Lighting on Saturday, November 21.
That gap runs 27 days. It covers three Saturdays and three Sundays with no organized event on the Square, the longest stretch since the market opened for the season. For those weeks the Square runs on its storefronts. The most visible storefront change of the year, at the corner of Erie Avenue and Edwards Road, won't be finished until spring 2027.
Both days of the closing weekend follow a tight schedule, and the two events don't overlap.
The official Hyde Park Square events page lists Trick-or-Treat but leaves the start time blank. The times above come from the Hyde Park Neighborhood Council schedule published October 1 by Living Magazines. That same notice points readers to hydeparksquare.org as the council's new website. The participating businesses haven't been published, so the storefront doors on Saturday morning are the most reliable guide.
The two listings for the farmers' market describe the season differently. The Square's own listing says Sundays from May through October, skipping October 4 for the Art Show. Visit Cincy names October 25 as the end date. Both agree that the season ends with October.
The Sunday market is the only weekly event on the Square, and it runs on a specific set of growers. The market's producer directory lists Running Creek Farm and The Eaton Farm among its current farms. According to a 2024 Living Magazines profile, Running Creek Farm had been at the market since its first season and The Eaton Farm had been selling there since 2008.
The market also has its own standards. Its produce and flowers are grown without synthetic chemicals or genetically modified seeds, and its livestock and poultry are pasture-raised and finished without antibiotics, genetically modified feed or growth hormones. Those standards leave with the vendors when the season ends on October 25.
A cold-weather version has run before, but it is not on the 2026 calendar. A vendor's events page shows a Hyde Park Winter Farmers Market hosted at MadTree on March 9, 2025. As of mid-October, no November or December 2026 date has been posted. That 2025 date shows only that a winter market has happened, not that one is planned this year.
From the end of the market to the Fountain Lighting, the Square's calendar looks like this.
| Date | On the Square's published calendar |

Earlier this month the Square had the opposite problem. The Hyde Park Square Art Show on October 4 brought more than 200 artists and sculptors, closed Erie Avenue from Edwards to Michigan and pushed the market off its usual Sunday. In November, nothing on the calendar will close the street or move anyone off it.
Two businesses had news this year that matters more in November than it did in the summer, because nothing else on the Square is competing for attention.
The first is on the Square's busiest corner. Local 12, citing the Cincinnati Business Courier, reported on August 14 that Parkside will move from 2637 Erie Ave. to 2635 Erie Ave., at the corner of Erie Avenue and Edwards Road. The new space is the former MexCantina, which closed in December 2025. Owner Trevor Snowden, who also runs Delwood and Guardia in Mount Lookout, told the Business Courier that Parkside's current space will stay open while construction is underway. He said the new restaurant is expected to open in spring 2027.
On the calendar, that puts the Fountain Lighting crowd on November 21 next to a corner that has been between tenants for nearly a year. Parkside will still be serving from its current address next door. No new concept has been announced for 2637 Erie after Parkside moves.
The second is farther east on Erie Avenue. Koriela Bakery & Kitchen, owned by Ifat Lahyani, opened at the end of July at 3670 Erie Ave., in the space Grandin Desserts used to occupy, according to Local 12. It opened in the middle of market season, so November will be its first stretch on Erie without the Sunday market drawing people to the 2700 block.
The Fountain Lighting is the event that ends the gap, and it has its own detailed schedule. It runs from 5 to 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, November 21. The program in the council's October listing includes:
The Kilgour Fountain, the Square's landmark, is the centerpiece. The council's listing also encourages people to arrive early to explore the Square's locally owned shops and restaurants and get some holiday shopping done. The official Fountain Lighting page promises festive lights, seasonal music and family activities. It describes some features as part of past celebrations rather than confirming them for this year, and it doesn't yet list a start time. Santa doesn't appear on either 2026 listing.
The holiday drinks depend on DORA, the designated outdoor refreshment area that lets participating bars and restaurants serve drinks people can carry outside. That puts the Square's own businesses at the center of the evening. The evening begins with the restaurants, and the corner at Erie and Edwards will still be under construction until spring.
